KATHMANDU: Despite call from the business community to extend the deadline to clear Value Added Tax (VAT) and excise duty, the government is in no mood to defer the payment deadline of these taxes.
Businesses are required to pay VAT and excise duty of a Nepali month by 25th of the next month. This means businesses should clear VAT and excise duty of Shrawan by 25 of Ashad (Thursday).
Binod Bahadur Kuwar, director general of Inland Revenue Department (IRD) said that no decisions have been made so far to extend the VAT and excise duty clearance period.
