KATHMANDU: Yeti Airlines launched its ‘Together for Domestic Tourism’ campaign today on the occasion of its 22nd anniversary.
“The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic are gradually fading out and now it has become a new normal. However, chances of foreign tourists visiting the country like in the past are unlikely for the next one to two years. So, we have to now focus on and take this moment as an opportunity to promote domestic tourism,” mentioned CEO of Yeti Airlines Anuj Rijal during an event to mark the company’s milestone.
Rijal also requested all the stakeholders to work together for the promotion of domestic tourism. He further said that Yeti Airlines is coordinating with various tourism associations to prepare some travel packages.
The travel packages include Everest Trail, Intriguing Rara, Enchanting Pokhara, Heart of the Jungle Safari Chitwan, Muktinath Darshan Jomsom (Low), Muktinath Darshan Jomsom (High), Annapurna Foothills Trail Ghandruk and Annapurna Luxury Ghandruk Trek.
Similarly, other packages are the Charismatic Kathmandu from Pokhara, Kathmandu from Biratnagar, Bhairahawa, Bhadrapur, Bharatpur, Nepalgunj, Janakpur and Tumlingtar.
Addressing the event,Achyut Guragain, president of Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents, said that in the previous days the country’s tourism sector had failed to introduce and promote domestic tourism. However, the pandemic has now provided this opportunity, he added. “At present airline companies are also focusing on domestic tourism which is very positive. Thus, we have to work together and not as competitors,” he stated.
The government has restricted all kind of arrivals, e-visas and paper visas. “So, how can we expect foreigners to travel to Nepal,” he queried, adding, “Hence, there is less chance of international tourists coming to Nepal. I feel the government’s decision is not a wise one.”
Guragain emphasized on the need to focus on quality and standard service and to promote tourism together.
After almost six months of restrictions, domestic flights have resumed from today.
