KATHMANDU: Ministries from different South Asian countries have laid emphasis on the need for mutual efforts to mitigate the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The ministers during a webinar titled Horace Extraordinary Meeting-2020, on Thursday, said that there is no alternative other than to initiate collaborative efforts to mitigate the problems that have been created by the coronavirus at present.
The programme was coordinated by Binod Chaudhary, Chairman of CG Corp Global.
In the program, the ministers sought unity among all the South Asian nations for further development citing that besides the geopolitical instability in South Asia, the regions now also has to think of ways to deal with the new problems created by the pandemic. They stressed on reducing the economic, political and social problems caused by COVID-19.
The session highlighted the equal role that all SAARC nations needed to play in mitigating the problems for mutual benefit. The participants also said that if South Asia could play an effective role in the changing world order, the values of the region could be established worldwide.
A session titled ‘Possibilities of South Asia’ was also conducted during the webinar which underscored the need for better and stronger relationship among the SAARC countries.
More than 800 representatives from 70 countries, including Minister for Foreign Affairs of Nepal Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, Minister of State for External Affairs of Bangladesh Shahriar Alam and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives Abdullah Shahid participated in the event.
