Reconstruction of 91% of houses damaged by 2015 earthquake completed

KATHMANDU: Of the total houses damaged by the devastating earthquake in 2015, 91 percent of them have been reconstructed or are being rebuilt, as per the latest report of the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA).

As per NRA, reconstruction of 69.9 per cent of houses has been completed while 21.1 per cent of the houses are under construction.

The authority had inked house reconstruction agreement with 796,245 beneficiaries and 556,487 of them have completed reconstruction of their houses. Similarly, NRA is optimistic that reconstruction of 168,083 houses will be completed within the current fiscal year.

NRA had recently completed its tenure of five years. However, a Cabinet meeting held on November 30 had decided to extend its tenure by a year to complete the reconstruction works.
