Govt decide to shut educational institutions for four days amid increasing air pollution

KATHMANDU: Amid deteriorating air pollution across different parts of the country, the government has decided to close schools and colleges for four days starting Tuesday.

A meeting held at the Ministry of Education, today, decided to close schools for four days from Tuesday, a source informed.

Earlier, the Ministry of Health and Population had issued a statement urging people to be vigilant as various health problems could arise due to increasing pollution in the country, especially in Kathmandu Valley. Similarly, the ministry had also appealed to the public not to move out of their homes unnecessarily.

As per the Ministry, the pollution has increased the risk of asthma, allergies, eye burns and other respiratory diseases among the people of Kathmandu Valley.
