Private sector appeal govt to extend tax payment period

KATHMANDU: Amid call from the government to pay taxes via online, the private sector have requested the government to extend the tax payment period citing that they are not in position to clear taxes amid ongoing prohibitory order across different parts of the country.

Issuing a press statement on Tuesday, the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) and Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC), considering the current situation, requested the government for extension of the deadline for submission of the value added tax and excise duty, advance tax deduction and other taxes.

FNCCI has stated that trade, business and vehicular movement have been shut down while industrial employees and workers have not been able to come to office due to health concerns and lack of transportation services. “At such context, the private sector is not in position to make tax payment as asked by the government,” said FNCCI in a statement.
