Apex court resumes hearing on house dissolution case from today

KATHMANDU: The hearing on the writ petitions filed against the dissolution of the House of Representatives is underway at the Supreme Court (SC).

A constitutional bench of five justices including Chief Justice Cholendra SJB Rana is into hearing of the case. Almost 30 writ petitions had been filed at the apex court against the dissolution of parliament demanding reinstatement of parliament and appointment of Nepali Congress(NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba as the prime minister.

Chief Justice Rana had formed a five-member constitutional bench including justices Deepak Kumar Karki, Mira Khadka, Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada and Dr Ananda Mohan Bhattarai, on seniority basis, for conduct hearings on the house dissolution case.

President Bidya Devi Bhandari had dissolved the parliament on the recommendation of PM KP Sharma Oli on May 21.
