Governor Adhikari says Monetary Policy will incorporate issues of every sector

KATHMANDU: Governor of the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) Maha Prasad Adhikari today said that the Monetary Policy for 2021-22 will try addressing plights of every sector affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Addressing a discussion programme organized by Bizmandu, governor Adhikari said, “The central bank has been easing things for different sector during the pandemic and have been facilitating the. The Monetary Policy will certainly incorporate issues of every sector and help them sustain and fight the pandemic.”

Adhikari said that NRB will take suggestions from every sector and incorporate them in the Monetary Policy. The central bank is expected to bring Monetary Policy for next fiscal year in third week of July.

Meanwhile, governor Adhikari urged the banking sector to remain alert and cautious citing that different relief packages launched/introduced by banking sector, on recommendation/direction of NRB since spread of Covid-19 in Nepal, could negatively hit the banking and financial system of the country.

On the occasion, Adhikari also said that the central bank will continue facilitating the banking industry, country’s financial system and the private sector. “However, NRB too has its limitation and may not be able to keep supporting every time. We are an regulating agency,” he said.
