KATHMANDU: The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a case against three persons including the then Director General of the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) Chudamani Sharma at the Special Court, Kathmandu.
CIAA spokesperson Narayan Prasad Risal informed that case has been filed against Sharma, the then member of Tax Settlement Commission, 2071 Lumbadhwaj Mahat and Umesh Prasad Dhakal.
The anti-graft body has alleged that they went out of their jurisdiction and entered into tax evasions with taxpayers and leaked revenue.
“Defendants, who were officials of the then Tax Settlement Commission, were found to have done malicious acts without good intentions for their personal gains,” states the CIAA’s press statement.
