Govt should control misinformation spread by banks regarding Social Security Scheme: Gautam

KATHMANDU: Kamal Gautam, Vice President of Nepal Trade Union and Coordinator of Social Security and Cooperative Promotion, GEFONT has said that the Ministry of Finance (MoF) should control the misinformation spread by bakers against the Social Security Fund (SSF).

In a recent meeting with Minister for Finance Bishnu Prasad Poudel, Gautam said that banks workers have been misinforming the public regarding the voluntary-based social security scheme and sought immediate action.

Similarly, Gautam also stressed that unorganized workers should be brought under the purview of the Social Security Fund, the conflict between the workers and the contractors in Arun III should be settled on the side of the workers, the legal process should be arranged to provide wages including the livelihood of the workers.

On the occasion, Minister Poudel said that the government is sincere and committed to implement the social security scheme and make it oriented to workers. Similarly, Poudel also mentioned that the recent budget for upcoming fiscal year has tried to address issues of every sector, including workers, businesses and the entire private sector.
