KATHMANDU: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has accelerated preparing the monetary policy for the fiscal year 2021-22 which the central bank plans to unveil in the third week of July.

As per NRB, it is currently analyzing and incorporating different suggestions that it received in the draft of the Monetary Policy.

“As NRB was busy collecting suggestions and recommendations for the last few week, we are now analyzing them and trying to incorporate them in the Monetary Policy,” informed Narayan Pokharel, joint spokesperson at NRB, adding, “The draft of Monetary Policy will be ready within few days.”

As per him, the Monetary Policy, which will be brought in line with the budget for 2021-22, will primarily focus on reviving the economy shattered by the Covid-19 pandemic.

As the private sector has urged the central bank to restructure business loan, extend the loan payment period, boost refinancing facility and increase access to concessional loans, NRB officials said that the Monetary Policy will try addressing these issues.
