KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has issued an interim order against the Kaligandaki diversion project announced by the government.
The project which was brought by former finance minister Bishnu Paudel is already in controversy after Lumbini and Gandaki provincial governments had contrasting viewpoints regarding the project.
A single bench of Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Rana issued the verdict on Tuesday in response to a writ petition filed by Prakash Mani Sharma among others. Meanwhile, the apex court has also asked the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers to explain why the project should not be terminated.
