Minister Bhusal directs NEA to collect trunk and dedicated line tariff

KATHMANDU: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Pampha Bhusal has directed the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) to collect the dues of dedicated and trunk lines from industrialists. She asked the NEA to make employees responsible and collect such dues as soon as possible.

She also directed NEA to prepare a list of distribution center heads who have not collected dedicated tariff since 2072 BS. The industrialists, on the other hand, have been saying that the tariff has been fixed by the NEA contrary to the connection process, criteria and regulations.

Minister Bhusal also expressed dissatisfaction over the failure to collect dedicated tariff since 2072 BS abiding NEA’s bylaws. Similarly, she also expressed concern over increase in electricity leakage.

NEA had been providing uninterrupted power supply to the industries by charging 65 percent more than usual. But the industries that have received such facility have been paying ordinary fee without paying additional tariff.
