5G testing open to all service providers as NTA approves necessary procedures

KATHMANDU:  A recent board meeting of the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) has approved the ‘Procedure for Testing New Technology Including 5G, 2078’, paving the way for test transmission of the latest 5G technology in Nepal.

With this, service providers who want to test new technologies, including 5G, Machine to Machine, , Internet of Things (IoT), can apply to the NTA for permission. NTA chairman Purushottam Khanal said that the procedure has ensured necessary laws for testing new technologies in Nepal.

“The market is ready for new technology including 5G. Doors are now open for any service provider to test 5G and other internet technologies in Nepal.” The procedure has clarified the process of testing new technology. For that, first of all, service providers have to submit an application for testing at NTA.

The application should include information on new technology, locations to be tested, services to be provided, details of frequencies required for testing, and network connection and operation schedule.
