KATHMANDU: As much as 51 of the 753 local governments in the country are yet to announce the budget for the current fiscal year.
As per the Intergovernmental Fiscal Arrangement Act, local governments should bring the budget on Asar 1 (for provincial governments) and Asar 10 (for local governments).
While 6 local governments of Province 1 are yet to bring budgets, 32 local governments in Province 2 have not brought the budget. Similarly, 3 locla governments each in Bagmati Province and Lumbini Province, 4 local governments in KArnali Province and 3 in Sudurpaschin Province have not introduced the budget for the current fiscal year.
