Foreign investment key to Nepal’s development process: Ambassador Nicola Pollitt

KATHMANDU: The government of Britain has expressed its commitment to help Nepal raise foreign direct investment in the country.

Stating that Nepal has a suitable environment for investment, the British Embassy in Nepal expressed its commitment to support Nepal bring in foreign investment. In a meeting with officials of the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI), British Ambassador to Nepal Nicola Pollitt said that she would take initiative to attract British investors to Nepal.

“Foreign investment is crucial in Nepal’s development and Nepal today has comparatively better investment environment,” said Pollitt.

During the meeting, CNI President Vishnu Agrawal said that unemployment and lack of skilled manpower were the two major problems Nepal is facing today. “The UK government and CNI can coordinate in organizing programmes and trainings to promote skill development in Nepal,” he said.

CNI’s Immediate Past President Satish Kumar More said that there is ample potential for investment in Nepal while confederation’s vice president Nirvana Chaudhary informed that CNI has taken forward various sectors for the development of the economy.

Director General of the Confederation Yadav Prasad Poudyal and Director Sabin Mishra were present at the meeting held at the British Embassy in Kathmandu.
