Registration of companies up 38 percent after Covid-19

KATHMANDU: Company registration has risen up in the country, especially after the post-Covid new normal state. The company registration number in the current fiscal year has been the highest in the last five years.

According to the data of Office of Company Registrar, 10,337 companies have been registered in the current FY. This is 38 percent more than the corresponding period of the last FY 2077/78. Around 7,493 companies were registered last year.

Pradipraj Adhikari, registrar of Office of Company Registrar said, “Since the new normal , there has been increase in the registration of the companies.” “Even during the pandemic the registration office didn’t close which also helped in more registration. Now, the online system for the registering the company have been improved.”

As per statistics, 5727 company were registered in FY 2074/75, 7984 companies in 2075/76, 7412 companies in 2076/77  and 7493 companies in 2077/78.

Although thousands of the companies are registered every year, only few come to operation. As per officials, less around 90 percent of registered companies are in operation.

According to the company registrar office, 276412 companies have been registered in the country so far.
