Govt raises public transportation fare up to 15 percent

KATHMANDU: The government has raised public transportation fare (long-distance) by up to 15 percent.

Likewise, the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport has also decided to raise public transportation fare (short distance) by 10 percent.

While fares for freight vehicles in the hilly region have increased by 13 percent, fare for vehicles operating in tarai region has been increased by 15 percent.

Citing skyrocketing fuel price, transport entrepreneurs have been pressuring the government to increase public transportation fare since last few weeks.
