Newly-elected KMC mayor, deputy-Mayor, representatives takes oath of office

KATHMANDU: The newly-elected mayor, deputy mayor, ward chairpersons and members of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) are assuming their offices today.

Independent candidate Balendra Shah and CPN-UML candidate Sunita Dangol were elected as the mayor and deputy mayor through the May 13 local elections.

A total of 160 elected people’s representatives are taking oath of office amidst a program today.

Nepali Congress (NC) candidates have won the post of chairperson of 19 out of the 32 wards in KMC while UML candidates registered victory in 12 wards. The CPN (Unified Socialist) won the post of chairperson of ward 15 in KMC.
