KATHMANDU: The incessant rainfall has caused disruption of flights from Nepalgunj and Surkhet to Humla, causing severe price hike of daily essentials at the district headquarters, Simikot.
Even the construction works have been halted due to the disruption in supply of materials such as pipe, cement, and rods, the state-owned national news agency RSS reported.
A farmer Parek Bahadur Rokaya told RSS that they were experiencing shortage of food stuffs in the district of late.
Humla, a remote district in Karnali Province, heavily relies on air service as it lacks proper access to road network. Although some parts of the district have been recently connected to road network, the condition of roads are said to be in a pathetic state especially during the rainy season.
It is not clear whether the flights have resumed or not. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has predicted generally to fully cloudy weather throughout the country with chances of light to moderate rain in many places on Tuesday.
