KATHMANDU: Foreign direct investment (FDI) has increased by 18 per cent in comparison to a year earlier.
According to the current macroeconomic and financial position published by the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), FDI rose to Rs 17.08 billion in the end of mid-June 2022 from Rs 14.47 billion recorded in the end of mid-June 2021.
The data showed that the upright jump in the amount of the cumulative FDI during the ten months of the current fiscal year (FY) remained conspicuous in comparison to the same period of the previous FY.
The cumulative amount of FDI in the first ten months of the current FY increased by 18 per cent whereas it fell short by 17.8 per cent a year earlier. The data showed that the FDI in the first ten months of the FY 2020/21 recorded Rs 14.47 billion whereas the amount was recorded Rs 17.6 billion in the FY 2019/20.
