KATHMANDU: The General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions (GEFONT) is preparing to launch a campaign against the exploitation of workers in the name of internship (training).
This is one of the main campaigns that GEFONT will conduct after its 8th National Congress. GEFONT believes that this will put an end to the exploitation in the labor market.
GEFONT held a press conference on Thursday to inform about the preparations for the 8th National Congress to be held from July 23 to 26.
During the press meet, GEFONT Chairman Binod Shrestha said that not only are interns employed without money, but in some establishments they are charged fees, this trend is serious labor exploitation.
He shared that GEFONT will be starting the campaign with the concept that interns should also be remunerated.
