Dhakal asks South Korean lawmaker to support in Nepal’s economic development

KATHMANDU: Senior Vice President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI) Chandra Prasad Dhakal has asked the South Korean lawmaker to support in Nepal’s economic development.

Dhakal, who is also the officiating president of the FNCCI, expressed this opinion during a meeting with Lee Sangheon, National Assembly member of the Republic of Korea, at FNCCI secretariat on Monday.

During the meeting, discussions were held on expanding economic and business relations between Nepal and the Republic of Korea

Dhakal asked the Korean lawmaker to facilitate bringing South Korean investment and technology in Nepal’s tourism, infrastructure, agriculture, energy and information technology sector.

Stating that it would be easy to bring investment, technology and experience of the Republic of Korea in Nepal if there was cordial relation between the two private sector entities, he asked the Korean lawmaker to facilitate in this regards.

He stated that there was huge potential of investment in Nepal and the investment climate was also improving over the years.

“The private sector has been constantly pushing the government to bring in foreign investment in Nepal. The acts related to foreign direct investment are being amended to make them investment friendly and timely,” he said.

During the meeting, Sangheon said that South Korea was ready to support in the economic development of Nepal.

He also vowed to facilitate executing the suggestions of the Nepalese private sector and bring FDI from Korea.

FNCCI vice president Anjan Shrestha, president of Industry Committee Bharat Raj Acharya and senior staff of the FNCCI were also present during the meeting.

A three-member delegation led by Sangheon is currently in Nepal.
