Tourism Minister Kirati requests an additional air route from India

KATHMANDU: Sudan Kirati, Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, has asked India to open a new air route to Nepal.

Minister Kiranti told the Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Shreevastav, at his ministry in Singha Durbar on Friday that the only air route in Nepal through Siraha district is insufficient for the increasing number of flights into Nepal, and that Nepal should be provided with an additional air route to enter the country, according to the minister’s secretariat.

In response, Indian Ambassador Shreevastav stated that India is always concerned about the well-being of Nepal and its people.

In the aftermath of the only air route via Simara, which has seen increased air traffic in recent times, Nepal has requested India for additional air routes, such as those from Bhairahawa, Nepalgunj, and Mahendranagar.
