KATHMANDU: Nepal’s hospitality and tourism sector has secured a major international endorsement as Tribe Kathmandu, a premium lifestyle hotel under the globally renowned French hospitality giant Accor, prepares to make its South Asia debut in Nepal, signaling growing investor confidence in Kathmandu’s evolving tourism and luxury travel ecosystem.

In a landmark move for Nepal’s tourism, lifestyle hospitality, and international hotel investment sectors, Sabrina Hotel Limited has entered into a strategic partnership with Accor to transform its hotel property in Budhanilkantha, Kathmandu, into Tribe Kathmandu, making Nepal the first country in South Asia to host the rapidly growing lifestyle brand — ahead of much larger regional markets such as India.

The agreement between Sabrina Hotel Limited and Accor’s Tribe Hotels brand was formally signed in New Delhi, India, last week, marking a significant milestone not only for Nepal’s premium hotel industry but also for the country’s broader ambition to position itself as a global destination for high-value tourism, international hospitality investment, and modern urban travel experiences.

Located at Ganesh Chowk in Budhanilkantha, the upcoming Tribe Kathmandu is expected to redefine lifestyle accommodation standards in Nepal by blending contemporary design, community-driven spaces, premium comfort, smart hospitality technology, and affordable luxury — features increasingly sought by modern global travelers, digital nomads, business visitors, and experience-focused tourists.

Industry observers say the project demonstrates growing private-sector confidence in Nepal’s tourism economy, particularly in premium hospitality infrastructure targeting international guests with higher spending capacity.

Five-Star Upgrade Underway

The hotel property is currently undergoing a major transformation to meet five-star hospitality standards before officially launching as Tribe Kathmandu.

Upon completion, the hotel will feature 110 premium guest rooms, upgraded to an average size of approximately 30 square meters, significantly enhancing comfort standards compared to many conventional city hotels.

The upgraded property will also include:

The property is located approximately 10 kilometers from Tribhuvan International Airport, while remaining within easy reach of Kathmandu’s internationally recognized tourism district, Thamel.

The hotel also benefits from its location near the ecologically significant Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park, allowing guests access to hiking, nature tourism, wellness experiences, and outdoor recreation — an increasingly attractive proposition for international travelers seeking mixed urban and nature-based experiences.

The expansion also reflects Sabrina Hotel Limited’s broader growth ambitions.

The company is preparing to launch an Initial Public Offering (IPO) in the near future and has already submitted an application to Nepal’s securities regulator.

To support future expansion, Sabrina Hotel Limited has increased its issued capital from NPR 1.12 billion to NPR 1.22 billion. Of the total, NPR 749.6 million will remain under promoter ownership, while approximately NPR 470.4 million worth of shares will be offered to the public through the proposed IPO.
