NRB invites global bids for printing 420 million pieces of Rs. 50 banknotes

KATHMANDU: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has called for international competitive bids from pre-qualified security printers for the designing, printing, supply, and delivery of 420 million pieces of Nepali Rupees 50 denomination banknotes. The official notice was published on July 25, 2025, under Bid No. NRB/CMD/BCB-G/01/082/83.

According to the NRB’s Currency Management Department, the procurement will follow a Single Stage, Two Envelope Procedure—requiring bidders to submit technical and financial proposals separately. Interested bidders can obtain bidding documents from NRB’s Currency Management Department in Thapathali, Kathmandu, by paying a non-refundable fee equivalent to USD 150 or its equivalent in NPR, EUR, or GBP. The final date for bid submission is September 7, 2025.

NRB has urged all eligible pre-qualified printers to actively participate in this high-volume tender aimed at maintaining the quality and security of Nepal’s currency.
