KATHMANDU: The ninth edition of Nepal’s largest energy event, Power Summit 2025, organized by the Independent Power Producers’ Association of Nepal (IPPAN), has been rescheduled to October 15–16, 2025 (29–30 Ashoj, 2082 BS) due to an official visit by former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to India, in which IPPAN officials are also expected to participate.
Previously slated for Ashoj 1–2, 2082, the summit will still be held at Hotel Soaltee, retaining all previously planned agendas and objectives. IPPAN issued a press statement acknowledging the inconvenience caused by the rescheduling and extended its apologies to its participants, partners, and stakeholders.
This year’s summit is being organized under the theme “Mission 28,500 MW: Powering Nepal, Energizing Region”, aligning with Nepal’s national energy roadmap to generate 28,500 megawatts of electricity by 2035. The summit aims to strengthen cross-border energy trade, foster regional cooperation, and attract investment into Nepal’s hydropower sector.
Regional Power Dialogue with Global Reach
Over 30 countries will participate in this influential summit, which will gather representatives from diplomatic missions, development partners, government and private institutions, academia, regional think tanks, international consultants, EPC contractors, banks and financial institutions, and insurance companies. Together, they will discuss policy, investment, infrastructure, and the role of Nepal’s green energy in South Asia’s sustainable growth.
The Government of Nepal, through the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, has taken up the role of patron for the summit, while the Embassy of India has confirmed its involvement as country partner.
IPPAN has set the objective for the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister to inaugurate the summit. Discussions will span topics such as strategic pathways for internal and external power consumption, infrastructure development, financial mechanisms, energy diplomacy, and positioning Nepal’s green energy as a cornerstone of Asia’s economic development.
IPPAN has appealed to all stakeholders to contribute to making Power Summit 2025 a grand success, emphasizing that the summit is not just a milestone for Nepal’s power producers but also an enabler of the region’s shared prosperity through sustainable hydropower and renewable energy diplomacy.
