KATHMANDU: The Government of Nepal has appointed Additional Inspector General (AIG) Chandrakuber Khapung as the new 32nd Inspector General of Police (IGP).
A meeting of the Council of Ministers held at Baluwatar on Friday decided to promote Khapung to the top position of Nepal Police. He was the senior-most AIG on the eligibility list.
The appointment will come into effect after the retirement of incumbent IGP Deepak Thapa, who is set to retire on September 2 (Bhadra 17) at midnight upon reaching the mandatory age of retirement.
With this decision, Khapung will assume leadership of the country’s police force, succeeding Thapa as the chief of Nepal Police.
