KATHMANDU: The American Chamber of Commerce in Nepal (AmCham Nepal) has extended its best wishes to Interim Prime Minister Sushila Karki as she assumed leadership of the interim government, highlighting the importance of stability, economic growth, and good governance for Nepal’s future.
In a press release issued on Sunday, AmCham Nepal expressed condolences over the tragic loss of 51 lives in recent unrest and conveyed wishes for the swift recovery of those injured. The organization emphasized that “a peaceful and stable Nepal is the foundation for economic growth and shared progress for all.”
Nirmal Kajee Shrestha, Chairperson of AmCham Nepal, underlined the U.S. business community’s steadfast commitment to Nepal’s progress and the well-being of its people. He stated that AmCham and its members look forward to working as constructive partners with the interim government to support reforms that will strengthen economic resilience.
The statement further stressed the importance of collective action to restore calm, law, and order while preventing further destruction of property. “Building transparent and accountable institutions and ensuring good governance are vital for public trust and for attracting sustained investments,” the release noted.
Reaffirming its role, AmCham Nepal pledged to continue collaboration and dialogue in support of Nepal’s long-term stability, reform agenda, and prosperity.
This message comes at a critical juncture as Nepal transitions under Prime Minister Karki’s leadership following weeks of turmoil. The international business community has been closely monitoring Nepal’s political developments, with concerns that instability could affect foreign direct investment (FDI), trade, and overall investor confidence.
