KATHMANDU: Reliance Spinning Mills has cleared the first installment of its outstanding electricity dues for dedicated and trunk lines, and the previously disconnected power line has been reconnected, officials confirmed.
During periods of load-shedding, the Sunsari-based textile mill had continued consuming electricity through dedicated and trunk lines, accumulating premium electricity charges. On Thursday, the company paid the first installment, prompting the reconnection of its electricity line, according to Manoj Silwal, Executive Director of the concerned authority.
The payment covers the mill’s premium electricity usage from Magh 2072 to Baisakh 2075 (2016–2018). Reliance Spinning Mills had a total outstanding amount of NPR 75.37 crore, which has been divided into 28 installments. The company paid NPR 2.77 crore as the first installment toward settling the dues.
The authority emphasized that regularization of the payments and reconnection of electricity lines are part of ongoing efforts to ensure reliable power supply to industrial consumers and maintain proper collection of dues. This payment marks the beginning of the settlement of one of the largest outstanding premium electricity accounts in the region.
