KATHMANDU: President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Chandra Prasad Dhakal, has said that human service is the highest form of religion and called for integrating humanitarian work into religious practice. Speaking at the inauguration of the Shrimad Bhagwat Gyan Mahayagya in Baglung on Friday, President Dhakal emphasized that spirituality should be reflected through service to society.
The Mahayagya has been organized to raise funds for the construction of a building for the Human Service Ashram’s Baglung branch. “The greatest religion is human service, also known as Manav Dharma,” Dhakal said, adding that religion should not be limited to rituals alone but should manifest through compassion and service toward others.
Dhakal noted the increasing religious activities in the Gandaki region and stressed the importance of promoting Baglung and surrounding areas as centers of spiritual tourism. “Baglung is a sacred religious land. It should be recognized and promoted in that form,” he said.
Expressing happiness over the construction of the “Temple of Humanity” on the banks of the Kaligandaki River, Dhakal announced that he would contribute personally and institutionally to the development of the Ashram’s infrastructure. He also highlighted the religious importance of the Muktinath-Damodar Kunda-Galeshwor-Baglung Kalika-Modibeni-Jaiminighat pilgrimage belt, saying that efforts will be made to boost religious tourism and corresponding infrastructure development in the region.
Dhakal also lauded the Human Service Ashram’s ongoing campaign to rehabilitate and support homeless individuals across all seven provinces, calling it a meaningful example of compassion-driven service. He encouraged those involved in the Ashram’s humanitarian initiatives to continue their efforts with the same spirit of service and empathy.
