KATHMANDU: The newly formed ‘Ujyalo Nepal Party’, with former Nepal Electricity Authority Managing Director Kulman Ghising as its patron, has released its detailed manifesto alongside its official establishment. The document positions the party as a fresh alternative force, arguing that systemic weaknesses, poor governance, and outdated political practices have stalled Nepal’s development for decades.
The manifesto sharply questions the leadership capabilities of the traditional political parties, stating that Nepal’s youth, rising political awareness, and demand for clean and accountable governance require a new and competent political alternative. The party asserts that Nepal now needs a reform-driven political movement focused on long-term stability, institutional strengthening, effective constitution implementation, development, and good governance.
Highlighting Ghising as a “powerful exemplary leadership model,” the manifesto suggests that his achievements in the energy sector will guide the party’s political philosophy. It recalls that under Ghising’s leadership, Nepal’s electricity supply expanded to 95% of the population—a milestone in the country’s 105-year energy-development journey. The party describes this achievement as a model that proves Nepal’s development potential.
The manifesto outlines priority areas including infrastructure development, energy security, industrialization, economic prosperity, administrative efficiency, service-delivery reform, good governance, and corruption control. It pledges reforms in public institutions, fairness in share investment practices, long-term planning in the energy sector, resource mobilization, and accelerated rural development.
The party also argues that political fragmentation and partisan conflict have repeatedly pushed the country backward. It commits to promoting unity, cooperation, and a new political culture as guiding principles.
Alongside the manifesto, the ‘Ujyalo Nepal Party’ announced that it has begun preparations to expand its organizational structure, build party networks, and launch nationwide political campaigns.
