Ncell Foundation commits over 2,000 educational kits through NPL season 2 boundary initiative

KATHMANDU: Ncell Foundation has committed more than 2,000 educational kits for students from government and community schools across Nepal under its ongoing social initiative that links cricketing performance with classroom support.

As of Thursday, December 4, the Foundation has pledged 2,040 educational kits through its “4s for 4” initiative being implemented during the Nepal Premier League (NPL) Season 2, powered by Ncell. Under the scheme, Ncell Foundation allocates four educational kits for every boundary (four runs) scored in NPL matches.

The initiative, launched last year alongside the inaugural season of the NPL, aims to convert the excitement of professional cricket into measurable educational support for underserved students nationwide.

According to Ncell, a total of 510 boundaries have been struck by 90 players so far in the ongoing NPL Season 2, directly translating into the commitment of 2,040 educational kits.

Among individual contributors, Pokhara Avengers’ Adam Rossington leads the list with 27 fours, resulting in 108 educational kits. Lumbini Lions’ D’Arcy Short follows with 19 boundaries, contributing 76 kits. Kathmandu Gorkhas’ Ben Charlesworth and Sudurpaschim Royals’ Binod Bhandari are jointly placed third, with 17 boundaries each, ensuring the distribution of 68 kits per player.

Each educational kit will include essential learning materials such as school bags, notebooks, pencils, sharpeners, erasers, and other basic stationery items. Ncell Foundation said the kits are intended to help reduce resource shortages in community schools and support students’ learning needs.

“We extend our heartfelt congratulations and gratitude to every player whose boundaries in NPL matches have contributed to this social cause,” said Bishakha Laxmi Khadka, Corporate Communications and Sustainability Director at Ncell. “Since last year, we have been channeling the enthusiasm for cricket into meaningful social impact by supporting education for students who need it most.”

She added that the Foundation expects further contributions as the tournament progresses, with upcoming matches likely to increase the total number of kits to be distributed.

During the first season of the NPL last year, Ncell Foundation pledged 2,612 educational kits linked to 653 fours. In total, the Foundation distributed more than 9,000 educational kits across Nepal, including those committed under the boundary-linked initiative.

The distribution of the kits for NPL Season 2 will be carried out in coordination with the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), local authorities, and implementing partner Karmayog Foundation to ensure delivery to intended beneficiaries.

Ncell Foundation said the initiative reflects its broader commitment to corporate social responsibility by transforming sporting achievements into long-term educational impact, positioning every boundary scored on the field as a tangible step toward strengthening access to education in Nepal.
