KATHMANDU — Silver prices surged to a new all-time high in the domestic market on Sunday, while gold prices recorded a marginal decline, according to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association.
For the first time, silver prices crossed the NPR 4,100 mark per tola. Compared to Friday, silver rose by NPR 100 per tola to reach NPR 4,105. On the previous trading day, silver was priced at NPR 4,005 per tola.
In contrast, gold prices slipped slightly. The association fixed the price of fine gold at NPR 258,300 per tola for Sunday, down by NPR 100 from Friday’s rate of NPR 258,400 per tola.
Despite the minor correction, gold remains near its historic peak. Last Monday, gold prices climbed to an all-time high of NPR 260,700 per tola, reflecting sustained volatility in the precious metals market.
Market participants say the sharp rise in silver prices, alongside relatively stable but elevated gold prices, indicates continued investor interest in precious metals amid global economic uncertainty and currency fluctuations.
