Himalayan Life Insurance decides against dividend distribution

KATHMANDU: Himalayan Life Insurance Limited has decided not to distribute dividends from the profit earned in the last fiscal year.

The decision was made at a meeting of the company’s board of directors held on Poush 25, where it resolved not to declare any dividends from the accumulated profit of the previous fiscal year.

Following the decision, the board has also agreed to submit the company’s financial statements, reflecting the non-distribution of dividends, to the Nepal Insurance Authority for approval, according to the company.

The announcement comes amid tighter regulatory oversight and capital adequacy requirements in the insurance sector, where insurers are increasingly prioritizing balance sheet strengthening over shareholder payouts.

Himalayan Life Insurance has not disclosed further details on future dividend plans, stating that any such decisions will be made in line with regulatory guidance and the company’s financial position in the coming periods.
