Sindhuli Police arrest man with undeclared USD 57,000

KATHMANDU: Police in Sindhuli have arrested a man in possession of USD 57,000 of undeclared foreign currency during a routine check at a checkpoint in Golanjhor Rural Municipality–7, Upper Bazaar.

According to the Area Police Office, Khurkot, the cash was recovered from a Tata Sumo (Ba 16 Cha 8048) traveling from Kathmandu to Ilam. The arrested individual has been identified as 34-year-old Yubraj Newar of Mechinagar Municipality–3, Jhapa.

Police said the source of the foreign currency could not be disclosed during questioning. Newar has been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway in line with prevailing laws.
