KATHMANDU: Purna Bhakta Duwal has been elected president of the Tech Journos Forum (TJF), with a new executive committee formed unanimously at the organisation’s 12th Annual General Meeting and Convention held in the capital on Wednesday.
The newly elected executive committee includes Ganesh Subedi as vice-president, Anil Prasad Neupane as general secretary, Hikmat Acharya as deputy secretary, and Sajana Baral as treasurer.
Committee members elected to the new term are Kamal KC, Shiva Basnet, Yubraj Gautam, and Muna Kunwar, among other.
Speaking after the election, members of the newly formed committee said they would place strong emphasis on strengthening journalism related to the information technology sector and on enhancing the professional capacity of journalists covering technology and digital transformation.
Outgoing Chairperson of the Forum, Umesh Poudel, congratulated the newly elected executive committee and extended his best wishes for taking the evolving IT landscape forward in a more dynamic and effective manner through coordination with all stakeholders.
“There are many challenges and opportunities ahead. I encourage the new committee to move forward by working in close coordination with all concerned parties,” he said.
The forum stated that the new leadership aims to promote responsible and informed reporting on technology, innovation, and digital policy, while also supporting skill development and professional standards among technology journalists in Nepal.
