KATHMANDU: The printing of ballot papers for Nepal’s upcoming House of Representatives election has been completed, officials confirmed, with distribution to all districts scheduled within the next ten days.
According to Managing Director Yadunath Poudel of Janak Education Materials Centre Limited, the state-owned printer finished producing ballots in the quantity specified by the Election Commission Nepal ahead of the deadline.
“We have completed printing 20.3 million ballot papers for the first-past-the-post category last night,” Poudel said. “We were given 42 days, but we finished the work within 40 days.”
The printing facility maintained a daily production rate of roughly 1.3 to 1.5 million ballot papers during the process.
With printing now complete, officials said the ballots will be packaged and transported to respective districts. Poudel stated that delivery to all districts will be finalized within ten days.
The Commission had already printed 20.8 million ballot papers under the proportional representation system earlier. Distribution of those ballots is currently underway, with consignments already delivered to districts in Karnali Province and Sudurpashchim Province.
Election logistics officials say the early completion of ballot printing is expected to ease pressure on the final phase of election preparations, including polling staff deployment, security coordination, and materials management across the country.
