KATHMANDU: Nepal Association for Software and IT Services (NAS-IT) and Tech Journos Forum (TJF) have signed an agreement to continue their existing collaboration aimed at advancing Nepal’s information technology sector, enhancing knowledge exchange, and strengthening technology-focused journalism.
The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed on Wednesday by NAS-IT President Gaurav Raj Pande and TJF President Purna Bhakta Dulal during a formal event held in Kathmandu.
Under the renewed agreement, both institutions will jointly conduct training programs to enhance the professional capacity of technology journalists. The collaboration will emphasize emerging and high-impact domains including:
NAS-IT has committed to facilitating knowledge-sharing sessions and awareness programs for TJF members, enabling more technically informed and analytically rigorous reporting in Nepal’s digital economy landscape.
As per the agreement, TJF will collaborate with NAS-IT and its member companies, as well as IT experts, to produce in-depth content covering innovation, digital transformation, cybersecurity trends, startups, and Nepal’s evolving ICT policies. These materials will be disseminated widely through member media outlets to ensure broader public awareness of developments in the technology sector.
The partnership also envisions coordinated participation in workshops, roundtables, national and international seminars, and exposure visits, depending on institutional requirements.
A key provision of the MoU mandates at least one joint research project annually related to Nepal’s information technology sector. This initiative aims to contribute evidence-based insights into policy reform, digital governance, startup ecosystems, and cybersecurity frameworks.
Financial arrangements for joint programs will be determined through mutual understanding on a case-by-case basis.
The agreement will remain valid for one year and will be implemented in accordance with Nepal’s prevailing laws. Both parties retain the right to amend provisions through mutual consent. In the event of disputes, the MoU provides for resolution through dialogue and consultation mechanisms.
The renewed cooperation reflects growing recognition of the need for stronger coordination between Nepal’s IT industry stakeholders and technology-focused media to accelerate digital innovation, improve public literacy on emerging technologies, and strengthen the country’s broader ICT ecosystem.
