KATHMANDU: Rabi Lamichhane, chair of the Rastriya Swatantra Party and newly elected Member of Parliament from Chitwan District Constituency-2, has said his party will move forward cautiously while fulfilling the commitments made to citizens during the election.
Speaking to journalists after receiving his election certificate from the election office, Lamichhane said the historic mandate given by voters has placed a significant responsibility on the party, and it will proceed with careful and thoughtful decision-making.
Lamichhane secured victory from Chitwan-2 with 54,402 votes. He said he is aware of the expectations of the public and stressed that the party will move forward by embracing and including everyone.
Expressing happiness over the strong electoral outcome in favor of the party, Lamichhane added that the party remains in dialogue with citizens regarding the issues they want addressed.
He also acknowledged the risks of failing to meet public expectations, warning that the party could face the same fate as some existing political parties if it fails to deliver.
“The road ahead will not be easy, but it is not impossible,” Lamichhane said. “We will move forward not with arrogance or panic, but with patience, wisdom and responsibility.”
He added that the party will respect differing opinions and will not seek to sideline anyone who holds a different view.
