KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has begun an orientation program for its newly elected members of the House of Representatives starting Tuesday, aiming to strengthen legislative capacity and align lawmakers with the party’s policy framework.
According to party General Secretary Kabindra Burlakoti, the orientation program will run until Wednesday in Kathmandu. All elected lawmakers have already arrived in the capital to participate in the sessions, which are being held at a hotel in Lalitpur.
The training program is designed to familiarize Members of Parliament (MPs) with the party’s election manifesto, fundamentals of government formation, and Nepal’s parliamentary system. Party leaders say the initiative is part of a broader effort to build an informed and effective legislative team amid Nepal’s evolving political landscape.
The RSP, which has emerged as a significant political force in Nepal’s federal parliament, secured 125 seats under the first-past-the-post (FPTP) system and an additional 57 seats through the proportional representation (PR) system.
The orientation comes at a time when Nepal’s political environment is undergoing rapid shifts, with new parties like RSP attempting to redefine governance, transparency, and accountability standards in the country.
