KATHMANDU: The government has launched an integrated service system allowing citizens to apply for both citizenship certificates and national identity cards without filling separate forms, in a move aimed at simplifying public service delivery.
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs Nepal, interoperability has been established between the Centralized Citizenship Management Information System and the National Identity Management Information System, enabling streamlined data sharing across agencies.
Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal announced the reform while inspecting the District Administration Office Lalitpur on Sunday. He said the new system eliminates the need for service seekers to repeatedly submit the same personal details across different government offices.
With the new व्यवस्था in place, applicants will no longer need to fill separate application forms or visit designated National ID registration centers solely for biometric enrollment after submitting forms elsewhere. The integration is expected to reduce both time and financial costs for citizens.
“By linking the two systems, we have made services more citizen-friendly and efficient. People will now receive hassle-free services without duplicating paperwork,” Minister Aryal said.
The government confirmed that the integrated service has already been launched from multiple service points and will be gradually expanded across the country.
Officials say the primary objective is to minimize administrative burdens and improve accessibility, particularly for citizens who previously had to travel multiple times for documentation and biometric verification.
The reform is part of broader efforts to digitize governance and improve public service efficiency in Nepal, with a focus on reducing procedural duplication and enhancing data-driven service delivery.
