Balen Finalizes 16-member cabinet

KATHMANDU: Newly appointed Prime Minister Balendra Shah is set to take the oath of office and secrecy today (Chaitra 13) at 12:34 PM, alongside the formation of a 16-member Cabinet led by the Rastriya Swatantra Party.

According to party sources, the final list of ministers has been agreed upon, with Shah also assuming the Defence portfolio.

The Cabinet lineup includes:

  • Balendra Shah – Prime Minister, Defence
  • Swarnim Wagle – Finance
  • Sudan Gurung – Home Affairs
  • Shishir Khanal – Foreign Affairs
  • Sobita Gautam – Law
  • Sasmita Pokharel – Education
  • Sunil Lamsal – Physical Infrastructure and Transport
  • Pratibha Rawal – General Administration / Land, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation
  • Sita Wadi – Women, Children and Senior Citizens
  • Amaresh Kumar Singh – Industry, Commerce and Supplies
  • Biraj Bhakta Shrestha – Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation
  • Nisha Mehta – Health and Population
  • Ganesh Poudel – Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation
  • Bikram Timilsina – Communications and Information Technology
  • Dipak Sah – Labour, Employment and Social Security
  • Gita Chaudhary – Agriculture and Livestock

The oath-taking ceremony is scheduled to be held at Shital Niwas, where ministers will also be sworn in alongside the Prime Minister.
