KATHMANDU: The Mugling Nagdhunga Road will be closed during nighttime hours for three consecutive days starting from Chaitra 17, as authorities carry out road upgrading works in key sections.
According to officials, the road section at Ghoptebhir in Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality and nearby areas will remain closed daily from 10:00 PM to 4:00 AM until Chaitra 19.
Road Upgrade Work Behind Closure
The temporary closure has been enforced to facilitate ongoing road improvement and expansion work, which requires uninterrupted access to the construction zone during nighttime hours.
Project authorities stated that repeated disruptions to traffic during construction had caused inconvenience to travelers, prompting a decision to halt most vehicle movement entirely during the designated hours.
Restrictions on Vehicle Movement
During the closure period:
All non-essential vehicles will be restrictedOnly emergency and essential services will be allowed to operate
Travelers and transport operators have been advised to plan their journeys accordingly to avoid delays and inconvenience.
Key Highway for National Connectivity
The Mugling–Nagdhunga stretch is a crucial corridor linking Kathmandu with major parts of the country, including Pokhara and the Terai region. Any disruption along this route directly impacts passenger movement, goods transportation, and supply chains.
Authorities have urged the public to cooperate with the temporary restrictions, stating that the upgrades aim to improve road safety, reduce travel time, and enhance long-term connectivity along one of Nepal’s busiest highways.
