KATHMANDU: The scheduled 60th Annual General Assembly of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry has been halted at the last moment following an interim order from the High Court Patan.
The court issued the order in response to a writ petition filed by the Nepal Petroleum Transport Entrepreneurs Federation, which challenged issues related to membership within the FNCCI.
A joint bench of Justices Khadka Bahadur KC and Deepak Khanal directed FNCCI not to hold its general assembly until a decision is made regarding granting membership to the petitioner.
Earlier, on Chaitra 23, the court had issued a short-term interim order and summoned both parties for discussion. Following the hearing, the court on Thursday issued the order in favor of the petitioner, effectively stopping the planned general assembly scheduled for the end of the Nepali month of Chaitra.
The decision has created uncertainty around the FNCCI’s electoral and governance process, as the annual general assembly is a key event for leadership selection and policy direction within Nepal’s private sector umbrella organization.
