High Court orders RSP President Rabi Lamichhane to be detained

KATHMANDU: The Butwal Bench of the Tulsipur High Court has issued an order to send Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Ravi Lamichhane to custody, overturning a previous ruling by the Rupandehi District Court. The decision was made by a joint bench of Justices Ramesh Dhakal and Swikriti Parajuli.

The High Court’s ruling comes after Lamichhane and others filed an appeal at the Butwal Bench of the Tulsipur High Court against the district court’s earlier order.

The Rupandehi District Court had previously released Lamichhane on a bail of NPR 10 million in connection to a case involving fraud and organized crime linked to the Supreme Cooperative in Butwal.

The High Court’s latest order nullifies the district court’s decision, directing that Lamichhane be taken into custody as the legal proceedings continue.
