KATHMANDU: Nepal has achieved a major milestone in the global technology and innovation space, with two student teams earning top positions at the prestigious AI for Good – Robotics for Good Youth Challenge 2025 held in Geneva, Switzerland. Among more than 500 teams from 25 countries, Nepal’s Team Gautam Buddha secured 2nd place in the Junior Category, while Team Sagarmatha reached the Top 3 Finalist position in the Senior Category.
The event, part of the global AI for Good Summit, saw participation from over 7,000 students, all competing under the theme “Disaster Response and Resilience.” Nepal’s performance stood out for its innovative solutions and strong technical execution. Team Venezuela narrowly beat Nepal’s junior team by just five points.
Team Gautam Buddha included Aarav Gautam and Paridhi Shrestha from United School, Riddhi Manandhar from Samriddhi School, and Anupam Bhujel from KMC School, mentored by Rishav Raj and Kiran Khatri from the Robotics Association of Nepal (RAN). Team Sagarmatha consisted of Prabin Shrestha (Banepa NIST), Sampana KC and Shreyash Acharya (Trinity College), mentored by Santosh Thapa Magar.
These teams were selected through the Robotics for Good Youth Challenge – Nepal National Competition, organized by RAN at Kathmandu Engineering College and United School in May 2025. Over 17 schools participated in the junior selection round alone.
Nepal’s strong showing positions it as an emerging leader in South Asia’s robotics and AI education sector. With continued support for STEM learning and innovation, Nepal is quickly becoming a key player in the global casino world of technology and education in Asia.
