KATHMANDU: Jabbor Kayumov, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nepal’s leading telecom service provider Ncell, has resigned from his position, citing personal and family reasons, according to company sources.
Kayumov reportedly left Nepal for Dubai a weeks ago, and the company’s official website has already removed his name and details from the executive leadership section. He had joined Ncell—then operating as Ncell Axiata Limited—on May 9, 2023 (Baisakh 26, 2080 BS) as the CEO and Managing Director.
Following his resignation, Ncell’s Board of Directors has appointed Md Inamul Kabir, the company’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO), as the Acting CEO.
Kabir had joined Ncell just five months ago as CFO. Prior to joining Ncell, he served as Deputy CEO of UCB Fintech Company in Bangladesh, where he also previously held the position of CFO.
Kayumov’s sudden exit comes at a time when the company is navigating through a sensitive phase involving regulatory pressures, market shifts, and ongoing discussions about investment stability in Nepal’s telecom sector.
