South Korea opens EPS language test applications for 5,300 Nepali workers in manufacturing and agriculture

KATHMANDU: The Employment Permit System (EPS) Korea Branch under Nepal’s Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security has opened applications for the first phase of the Korean language test, targeting Nepali workers aspiring to work in South Korea under the EPS labor migration program.

According to the official notice, the application window is open from Shrawan 26 to Shrawan 31, 2082 (August 11–16, 2025), and the Korean language test will be held in Kathmandu. The test is a prerequisite for further evaluations such as the Skill Test and Competency Test, mandatory steps for final recruitment under EPS.

For this intake, a total of 5,300 job slots have been allocated by HRD Korea, with 3,500 quotas in the manufacturing sector and 1,800 in the agriculture and livestock sector. Applicants can only apply for one sector.

Only those who pass the language test will be eligible to participate in the second phase, which includes the skills and competency evaluation. After successfully clearing both phases, candidates will be allowed to submit employment applications to work in South Korea.

Eligibility Criteria:

Must be Nepali citizens aged between 18 and 39 years.

Should not have a criminal record or court-issued punishment in any felony.

Must not have overstayed illegally in South Korea or been deported.

Should not be banned by the Government of Nepal from foreign employment.

The opening of the language test under EPS is a significant opportunity for thousands of Nepalis seeking foreign employment in South Korea, which continues to be one of the most preferred labor destinations due to higher wages, better working conditions, and social security benefits.

This announcement also reflects Nepal’s ongoing labor diplomacy with South Korea, where the bilateral agreement under EPS continues to function as a model for safe and structured foreign employment.
