KATHMANDU: The National Examination Board (NEB) of Nepal has officially published the results of the Grade 12 examinations, with a total pass rate of 61.17 percent, marking a 9 percent increase compared to last year.
Out of 511,525 examinees, 38.83 percent were classified as “non-graded,” meaning they did not meet the minimum requirement for passing.
This year’s Grade 12 examinations were initially scheduled to begin on April 23, 2024 (11 Baisakh 2081 BS), but were postponed due to protests and eventually conducted from May 3, 2024 (21 Baisakh 2081 BS).
The NEB has also announced that the grade improvement examinations will be held on September 13 and 14, 2024 (28 and 29 Bhadra 2081 BS). Only students who narrowly missed the required grade in one or two subjects are eligible for this supplementary exam.
Speaking at a press briefing, NEB Chairperson Mahashram Sharma stated that the improved results were due to the hard work of students and increased attentiveness from parents and schools. “This year’s rise in pass percentage reflects not just academic effort but also a collective push from stakeholders for better educational outcomes,” Sharma said.
The board emphasized that preparations for the grade improvement exams will begin immediately and that students must apply within the stipulated deadlines to be eligible.
For official results and application procedures related to the supplementary exams, students are advised to visit the NEB’s official website or contact their respective schools.
